Club Support Webinars

Over the coming weeks, Ulster Rugby will be rolling out a series of free club support webinars in partnership with Openreach, with the aim of assisting club volunteers as they prepare for the return to rugby activity.

Details of the first two webinars are below. Additional webinars on ‘Engaging your members’ will follow, with date TBC.

Webinar 1: ‘Planning for the future’

Tuesday 9 June @ 7.00pm

In this webinar, Matthew Holmes (Club Services Officer) and Eliza Downey (Women & Girl’s Rugby Coordinator) will share their thoughts on the process of establishing an effective Club Development Plan and develop a collective vision.

Matthew and Eliza will discuss their involvement with clubs over the last number of years, citing what they believe to be the key features of any club planning project, that we hope can assist clubs to develop a plan of where they want to go and how they are going to get there.

The session will cover a 7-step process which takes the club fr​om a blank page to an action plan for delivery, including guidance on areas to consider, who to engage with and a structure to follow which will help maximise the chances of success.

Webinar 2: ‘Growing and developing your volunteer workforce’

Wednesday 17 June @ 7.00pm

In this webinar, Nicci Wilson (Volunteer Development Officer) Jennifer Boyd (Community Sports Development Officer) and Dan Carson (Community Sports Development Officer) will share their thoughts on the process of establishing an effective strategy for recruiting volunteers.

Nicci, Jen and Dan will discuss their involvement with clubs over the last number of years, citing what they believe to be the key features of a good club volunteer recruitment process, that they hope can assist clubs to overcome the barriers to growing and developing their volunteer workforce.

The session will cover the main areas to consider when beginning the recruitment process, which takes the club from identifying the need for volunteers though to the advertising and recruiting of the right volunteer for the role with a few practical tips and links to some of our online resources.

Webinar 3: Engaging Your Members

Thursday 9 July @ 7.00pm

In this webinar, Charlie Farrell (Club and Community Development Officer) and Matthew Holmes (Club Services Officer) will discuss their thoughts on effective ways to survey and engage your current club membership to ensure you’re meeting current / future wants and needs.

Charlie and Matthew will discuss their involvement with clubs over the last number of years, showcasing a number of real life examples of how a club in Ulster has effectively engaged its membership, as well as sharing some tips around surveying members in our current climate to ascertain their thoughts and feelings towards a return to rugby activity within your club.

The session will cover the benefits to engaging current membership, the use of different survey methods to communicate with your membership, our tips to effectively create and carry out a survey as well as discussing when to implement surveys or differing engagement methods with your membership.
