Upcoming SAFE Rugby training and Medical Conference

Ulster Rugby is hosting a SAFE Rugby course at Kingspan Stadium later this month, as well as a Medical Conference in September.

On Wednesday 28th August, Kingspan Stadium will host a SAFE Rugby Level 2 training day, which is a one-day course for medical and allied health professionals working or volunteering within the domestic game.

Date: Wednesday 28th August 2019
Time: 8.00am to 6.15pm (coffee and registration from 7.45am)
Venue: A&L Goodbody Lounge, Kingspan Stadium

The SAFE (Standard Approach to Field Emergencies) Rugby programme aims to provide rugby specific, pitch-side emergency care training and skills to medical staff and non-medical individuals involved at all levels in Irish rugby.

The level 2 course is ideal for those general practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists and other health professionals who provide their services to club and school teams.

This course will include certification from the Irish Heart Foundation in Basic Life Support and the use of an AED, as well as discussing the most up-to-date concussion management policies.

IRFU Level 2 and 3 courses are recognised for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.

All levels have pre-course online modules that must be completed before the training day.

Under new Ulster Rugby protocols, teams playing at Kingspan Stadium in final stage games are strongly advised to travel with a team doctor OR team physio, who is trained to SAFE Rugby Level 2.

To register your club/team doctor and/or physio for this course, please email Shane Mooney (shane.mooney@irfu.ie) before Monday 19th August at 5.00pm.
