Twelve players have been named in the Ireland squad to compete in Rugby Europe U18 Women’s Sevens Championship in Jarocin, Poland this weekend.

India Daley (Enniskillen RFC, pictured above) will make her first appearance in the squad and she will be joined by provincial colleagues Amanda McQuade (Virginia RFC), Mya Alcorn (Letterkenny RFC) and Lucy Turkington (Dungannon).

The side will be captained by Beibhinn Parsons. Kate Farrell has been included as a member of the senior squad and commenced training with the squad last week.

The team has been assisted during camps and the Home Nations Tournament by Irish 7s international player Katie Fitzhenry and half backs have worked under the direction of Irish 7s player Stacey Flood.

This is the final competition for the Ireland U18 Women’s Sevens squad this season and forms part of the Women’s Sevens Development pathway for this group.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Anthony Eddy, Director of Women’s and Sevens Rugby said: “The squad has had good preparation for this weekend, having been exposed to quality tournaments and the physical and mental demands of a sevens tournament.”

They have been drawn in Pool C and will play against Georgia, Latvia and Scotland.

They played in the Home Nations Tournament last month where they finished in third place.
