Throughout the 2009/10 season a number of Ulster players have excelled, and the URSC will honour one player's great achievements, this season, by presenting them with the URSC Player of the Season 2009/10 award.
Whilst honourable mentions should be made for Rory Best (an amazing journey from operating theatre to international stage via Rifle Park); Stephen Ferris (injury and international call ups meant his classy contributions were sadly intermittent); new boy Dan Tuohy (from National League 1 to scoring the winner against the galacticos at the Liberty in a matter of months); and Willie Falloon (whose European performances had the Sky pundits drooling.)
The shortlist for URSC Player of the Season 2009/10 is:
BJ Botha - stepped up to the plate as one of the world's best... when allowed to scrummage
Chris Henry - consistent excellence from the boy made king by Brian McLaughlin
Ian Humphreys - a regular game changer and match winner
Paddy Wallace - international class play maker - that's what the Welsh think - and they are right
Andrew Trimble - back to his muscular hard running best …..and that try in Bath….
Simon Danielli - our very own top try scoring flying Scotsman….
The player of the season will receive a magnificent trophy designed by local artist Bob Sloan and a superb Frederique Constant watch supplied by Alan Ferris of McNeillys Jewellers.
Previous winners of this prestigious award have been Matt McCullough, Justin Harrison, Neil Best, Tommy Bowe and Stephen Ferris.
