Queen's have enjoyed relatively straightforward progress to the semi-finals, scoring 92 points as they defeated Belfast Harlequins 31-13 before blitzing Ards 61-11.
The students also had home advantage for their last four clash with fellow Ulster bank league Division 2A side Banbridge. They trailed 5-7 to Bann at half time but eventually registered a 21-7 success. Michael McCauley and Robert Whitten scored the tries, while Ritchie McMaster had a successful day with the boot, landing 11 points.
Ballynahinch had a bye in round one so their first action came in the quarter finals against Malone, when they scraped a 26-24 win at home to Malone. They were also made to work hard last time out when they sealed their final spot with a 15-23 success at City of Derry. Jordan Grattan and Andrew Harper crossed the whitewash, with Adam Craig kicking 13 points.
Queen's Director of Rugby, Robbie Moore, is fully aware of the threat posed by 'Hinch: "They have been the best Ulster side over the past number of seasons so we know what we're going to be up against. They may be struggling a bit in Division 1A (of the Ulster Bank League) but to be quite honest, there's a big gap between the pace between of 1A and 2A, and I think any Ulster team would struggle up there. There are a few ex-Queen's boys in the 'Hinch squad as well so that will add a bit of spice."
Having watched his side enjoy a good start to the season and score dozens of tries in the process, Moore is hopeful that his dangerous backline can get plenty of front foot ball: "Our club captain Stewart McIlwaine in the centre and fellow backs Damon Hall and Michael McCauley have been very impressive so far. Our back row is dynamic and we will rely on them heavily. Conditions permitting, we'll be looking to play the type of expansive game that has served us well over the past few seasons."
Ballynahinch skipper, Stuart Morrow, is also expecting a closely fought encounter: "Queen's are a quality side, they have a lot of great young talent and they like to play a fast open game, just like ourselves, so I hope we get a good crowd out at Ravenhill on the night.
"All the boys are really looking forward to it. The First Trust Senior Cup Final is a welcome change from the AIL. The boys sat down at the start of the season and our goal was to win as much as possible. Silverware is important to us as a club and it's great to see our 2nd XV in the Millar McCall Wylie Junior Cup Final next week as well."
Queen's will be attempting to win the First Trust Senior Cup for the 23rd time, while 'Hinch will be looking to add to their solitary success in 2008/09.
Tickets for the game are available at the gate and are priced at £8 for adults and £3 for children.
