On Monday 21st April Development staff from Ulster rugby delivered a joint training session for City of Derry mini's and French rugby club Barbezieux.

Approximately 140 boys and girls aged between 8 and 13 split into 5 groups and completed 20 minute rotations working on their rugby skills from evasion, passing, tackling as well as fundamental movement skills and playing some matches.

The session was made even more special with the presence of Ulster stars Dan Tuohy and Paddy Wallace getting involved with the coaching.

This is Barbezieux's second visit to City of Derry in two years, with Derry visiting the French club last season. Today's session was just one item in an action packed itinerary which will see them visit the causeway coast, Derry's historic walls, and a rugby festival involving teams from City of Derry, Inishowen, Limavady, Letterkenny and Barbezieux.

Community Rugby Officer Shaun Bloomfield commented: "We throughly enjoyed delivering today's session. It's great to see clubs reaching out beyond Ulster and Ireland and creating these lifelong friendships with clubs in Europe. There where some excellent skills on display today and to have Dan and Paddy visit us made it even more memorable for all the players involved."
