Rainey opened up well in the second half and fifteen minutes in were reward with a try by Dylan converted by James Key. Rainey 10 Lurgan 20. Rainey appeared to be gaining superancy, but could not close the score line. Heading towards full time Lurgan ensure the win with two more tries(Curtis's third, and one by Shane McKeever), one of them converted by Ryan Mooney. Final Score Rainey 10 Lurgan 36.
The second games were the same two clubs in the U17 Shield Competition.
It followed the same pattern as the first. Lurgan opened with a Penalty. The scoreboard kept turning over with 3 tries in 9 minutes. Rainey had a spell of pocession and territory but no scores.
In the second half Rainey managed a try, but the game was Lurgan's final score 5 points to 46
The last game Rainey had a of opposition, whilst Lurgan went home happy Ards took on Rainey U19s . Would it be third time lucky for Rainey?
Rainey missed an early penalty, but were successfull with another penalty on the ten minutes. Ards missed three penalties before the first half ended with that solitary Rainey penalty.
The Second half saw Rainey increased the score with two more tries before Ards opened up with a converted try. The game was not over in this keenly contested match. With 10 minutes to go Rainey attempted to put the game out of reach, but the penalty kick was wide, the second Penalty in the dying moments of the game did clinch the game.Final score Ards 7 Rainey 12.
