Brian McLaughlin added: “We received so many messages of support and encouragement last week and it really lifted us ahead of the game. On the day, we didn’t get the result we wanted but the fans were fantastic.
"Welford Road is a very difficult place to travel to but I thought our fans nullified that with their vocal support. Once again they were a credit to the province. So many of the Leicester fans were complimentary about our support.”
A Leicester supporter sent the following letter congratulating the Ulster fans:
As a Leicester Tigers supporter, I thought I needed to contact you, following the Heineken Cup game on Saturday 19 November. May I applaud both the Club and the supporters for the way in which they conducted themselves at Welford Road. The supporters were a credit to you and many Tigers supporters remarked that it was one of the most memorable games in terms of atmosphere, largely due to the Ulster supporters.
After the game, I met the Ulster players, who were gracious in defeat and signed autographs and stood for photos with fans. Again, they were a credit to the Club.
I wish the Club every success this year and am now tempted to take the Tigers coach to Ravenhill for the return leg, so impressed I was with your Club.
