The Ulster squad played Worcester Academy, Saracens Rugby Academy and Harlequins Academy in the their group stage games.
In their first game Ulster started slowly but eventually the effects of an early morning flight wore off and the Ulster boys defeated Worcester by 10-7. The Ulster scores came from Rory Scholes with a try and conversion as well as a Stuart Olding penalty.
In their second game the Ulster team defeated the host team by 5-0 with Jaz Andress scoring the all important try for the Ulster squad.
In their final group game the team recorded an impressive 10-7 victory over their London based opposition from Harlequins. Jack Cooke and Stuart Hooks were the Ulster Schools' try scorers in this game.
The Ulster team went on to play London Irish Academy in the final. The London Irish team had come through a tough group stage series of games but victories against teams from Leeds RFC, Leinster Schools and Saracens Barbarians ensured that they played in the final against the young Ulster team.
An excellent display of attacking rugby with tremendous performances from players such as Chris Farrell, James Harrison and John Creighton laid the foundations for a Glen Bailie try and a David Scott conversion to ensure an Ulster victory over their London Irish rivals by 8-0.
The Ulster Schools' team will continue their preparations for the forthcoming Schools' Inter Provincial series in September with a game against a very efficient Ulster Clubs U18 squad at Clogher Valley Rugby Club in Fivemiletown on Wednesday 18th August. This game is scheduled to kick off at 6-00pm.
Both these Ulster Age Grade teams will play in a festival of rugby due to be held at Campbell College on Monday 23rd through to Wednesday 25th August. Lancashire Schools' U18's and Yorkshire Schools' U18's, regular and popular visitors to the Province, will provide the opposition for the Ulster teams in what should be an excellent event.
Meanwhile, the Northern Bank Ulster Schools' U19 Summer Development squad will play the Ulster Clubs U19 squad at Portadown Rugby Club on Thursday 19th August with a 3-00pm kick off. Supporters will be made welcome at all these games.
