13 schools from the east of the province gathered at Shaw's Bridge recently to participate in the annual IRFU (Ulster Branch) Tag Extravaganza
These schools had previously attended their regional festivals organised by their local Community Rugby Officer. The 13 lucky schools had been invited to the Tag Extravaganza following excellent skill and fair play play that they demonstrated at the regional festivals. Three prizes were up for grabs with referees marking each school in two separate categories, skill and fair play. Scores were calculated and the three most successful schools were given their prize.
Organisers of the event would like to thank Shaw's Bridge for the kind use of their facilities and all the Community Rugby Officers for all their hard work thoughout the season. Special mention must go to the players and teachers from all the schools involved for making the day as enjoyable as it was.
IRFU Ulster Branch Senior Community Rugby Officer, Brian O'Shaughnessy commmented: "This Tag Extravaganza concludes several months of hard work and dedication by the Rugby Development staff, most notably the Community Rugby Officers, who have been working in schools and clubs trying to grow the game at grassroots level. Many thanks to everyone involved for another successful Tag Rugby season!"
