Malone RFC Interschools Girls Competition
22 October 2007, 9:55 am
By Paula Gunn
Malone RFC hosted the inaugural girls schools competition last week. Read on for more information.
Nine teams from Antim GS, Rathmore GS, Strathearn, St. Dominic's HS, Sullivan Upper and Victoria College took part in the inaugural tag competition for the Robert Willis Cup. The weather proved to be favourable and the games were hotly contested with each team playing four times. The experienced Antrim girls, who were runners up in last years Ulster Branch Schools competition, won the event but were pushed hard by both St Dominic's and Victoria. Teachers, pupils, sponsors and organisers all enjoyed the day and are looking forward to next years Cup. Malone, who have committed the club to the development of women's rugby are planning to run another competition for girl's rugby later in the season.
