Munster started the game in a determined mood and got on the score sheet after a mid field break by Conan Doyle which led to him touching down behind the posts, he added the extras to give the visitors a 7point lead after 6 minutes. On the 15th minute Ulster’s luck was in short supply when an awkward bounce caught out covering hooker Matt Miles the ball bouncing kindly into the arms of the Munster flanks Jake Paringatai who crossed the whitewash. Doyle converted taking the Munster men 14 points clear.

Munster’s scrumhalf Tomas O’Leary always looked threatening and he snipped his way over for their third try which Manning converted. Ulster stood at a miserable 21nil. Ulster hit back five minutes from half time with a well worked score created by QUB centre and Academy member Ian Whitten who put his club colleague Mark Barker clear, the Queens man did well to fight of the Munster challenge and crossed in the right hand corner. Ulster failed to convert their try and at half time the score stood at 21-5.

Despite Ulster’s fighting spirit and stand out play from Thomas Anderson, Chris Henry and Ian Whitten, Munster continued on their winning ways and with an excellent performance from Barry O’Mahony the southern province touched down three further tries from James Coughlan and Tommy O’Donnell.
