Matt started playing rugby aged 8 at Downey House.  He progressed to playing on the senior squad at Methodist College Belfast but after suffering a 4th shoulder dislocation he took a break from rugby until 2005.  Matt has played rugby league for East Leeds ARLFC 1st team and this season will be playing for Instonians RFC.  He enjoys being involved in all aspects of rugby, and the YDO position provides him with the opportunity to encourage involvement of youth players, while developing them as atheletes.  He believes the work of the development officers is essential in the development of Ulster rugby, by harvesting and developing atheletes talent.
