Michael got involved in rugby through his local club City of Derry, where he played
mini rugby. His granddad, dad and brother all played for City of Derry.  He attended Foyle and Londonderry College where he played through all the various age levels and captained the school in his final year and represented Ulster Schools.  While attending University in England, Michael played both university and club rugby, representing Irish Exiles U21.  He has recently taken up refereeing and is in the AIL Panel.  What Michael enjoys most about his job is seeing players develop over the years and fulfilling their potential. He also feels the RDO role is fundamental to the future of rugby as they assist clubs and schools to develop their infrastructure and help ensure a vibrant future for Ulster and Irish rugby at all levels.
