Simon Best
DOB 11th Feb 1978 Birthplace Craigavon Height 1.85 m Weight 114 kg Position Prop Honours Ireland (23 caps)
Simon who was the Ulster Captain for the 2005-06/06-07 seasons has been a regular in the Ulster XV since 1999-2000.
He has represented Ireland at test level 18 times, making his debut against Tonga in June 2003 and his first start against Wales in August of the same year. He was part of Ireland’s 2003 Rugby World Cup Squad and has been ever-present in the international squad since then.
Simon, who is the brother of the Ulster hooker Rory, was educated at Portadown College and has also represented Ireland at Schools, U19, U21, U25 and A levels.
He returned to fitness in the autumn months of 2006 and was ever present as Ulster Captain winning 17 caps. Simon continued his International success and was selected for the Irish Six Nations Squad and named as Captain for the Irish tour to Argentina in June 2007.
