| Matt McCullough, who recently signed a new two year contract for his province spoke this morning of the mutual respect that the players and supporters hold for each other and how the 16th man's loyalty truely faced it’s toughest test this season,
“Since Matt arrived the players have really focused on what a privilege it is to wear the Ulster jersey and to be part of such a widely and loyally supported team. The supporters have really been tested this season and it just shows that when push comes to shove that we can count on each other’s support because it is a two way street between the players and the supporters- we work hard for each other.
Over the last 7-8 years I have seen first hand what effect the supporters can have on the men on the pitch and when you are in a high pressured match, when decision are coming down to the wire and the atmosphere is buzzing there is nothing like it. It is during those times that you are really tested and have to go above and beyond to show what you are capable of. Having 12,000 people behind you always makes it that bit easier and we definitely appreciate it because I think it’s then that players can really find out what they are capable of.”
