Results of semi finals played on Saturday 5th April
U18:
Ballynahinch 11 - 22 Wicklow

It was Wicklow who crossed the line first – alas the referee declare held up. Ballynahinch sustained further pressure in their own half before conceding a penalty between the halfway and 10metre line. Niall Earl's kick was long enough but just wide.  Ballynahinch soaked up more pressure before slowly moving up the field and out of their half, and this progress was rewarded with a penalty which was slotted over by Robert Irvine. By half time, with 3 more penalties the score was level at 6 all.

In the second half,  Wicklow took the lead with a penalty, and then extended this lead with another penalty. Ballynahinch attacked, but were driven back. A further attack led by James Simpson was stopped and recycled, and the ball was fed out to the left. It was then held out again, back inside to the centre of the field where Robert Irvine crossed the line for a try. He tried to convert his own try, but the ball bounced back off the post. Ballynahinch appeared to be back in the game, but Wicklow thought attack was the best form of defence.  Following several pick and drives from Wicklow, Timmy O’Dovovan headed for the line – before slipping the ball to Ben Armstrong to score in the corner. The conversion was kicked by Niall Earls, who also finished off the game with a penalty.  A gallant effort by Ballynahinch, but it is Wicklow who go through to the Final in Galway next Saturday

U16:
Banbridge 0 - 24 Skerries

For the first 18 minutes both teams had opportunies in attack, but defence held strong. Then Skerries' Paul O’Loughlin successfully kicked a penalty.  This unsettled Banbridge and Skerries took advantage, scoring 3 tries from Michael Caldwell and Chris Tonge (2), all coverted by Paul O’Loughlin.

In the second half Banbridge bravely chased the game, but unfortunately were unable to cross the line. Skerries also had their chances but no scores came in the second half.
