| Two of the Ulster Branch CRDOs, Darren McGuigan and Hamish Fraser went along to Lurgan GAA club, Clan na Gael’s annual Easter Sports Camp. Having built up strong links with the club’s youth coaching team over the years, this was the third year Darren and Hamish had worked at the camp, which ran from Thursday to Saturday.
The Easter Camps were aimed at children in the under 8s age group up to under 14s, and both boys and girls took part. The children were divided into groups and given 30- minute rotations in Rugby, Gaelic football, Hurling, athletics and soccer. The sessions began out on the Clann na Gael pitch, but due to heavy rain, coaching was forced to move to the adjoining school's gravel pitches and indoor halls.
The poor weather certainly didn't dampen the kids’ spirits, as they continued with the coaching sessions as eagerly as they began. For the children participating in the camp, it was a great opportunity to learn a variety of new sporting skills, and Darren and Hamish certainly put them through their paces by teaching some very valuable rugby skills.
