Rugby Stars Launch Kids Summer Camps
Rugby Stars Launch Kids Summer Camps

Star players from the Ulster Rugby team have helped launch this year's Ulster Rugby Summer Camps for young people along with a new sponsor.
The Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by retail group Centra, are for boys and girls aged 6 – 13 years and will take place at twenty different province-wide locations between June and August. Each camp will last for five days.

Organisers say the camps are an opportunity for young people to make new friends in a fun and safe environment, learn new skills under the supervision of qualified coaches and have the opportunity to meet their rugby heroes. Almost 1,700 children will be able to participate at camps from Newry to Coleraine and Enniskillen to Newtownards.

Ulster Rugby players Justin Fitzpatrick, David Humphreys and Justin Harrison joined Summer Camp participants and Centra representatives for the launch of the project.

Ulster Rugby Commercial Manager Simon Wallace commented; “The Ulster Rugby Summer Camps provide an opportunity for kids, who are both new to rugby and experienced in playing the game, to develop a wide range of social and rugby skills. We are hopeful of a huge response to the camps and would urge parents to apply early to avoid disappointment.

Commenting on the deal with Centra he added; “I am delighted that Centra has come on board as sponsor of the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps for the next three seasons. Through the camps Ulster Rugby works to encourage participation in rugby at a young age and across all skill levels throughout the province. Centra, through their extensive network of stores province wide are the ideal partner to help us to achieve this goal and together we will strive to deliver the rugby message throughout the province.”

Centra Brand Manager Nicky Kelly added; “We are delighted to announce our support for the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps and to help raise awareness of the initiative in all areas of Ulster. The sponsorship fits well with Centra’s other community based partnerships, which aim to help improve the health and well-being of young people, including Action Cancer’s school health programme and the DOE Cycling Proficiency Scheme.”

Registration costs £75 per child and includes an Ulster Rugby Summer Camp back pack, T-shirt, cap, water bottle and mini rugby ball.

Application forms for the scheme are being distributed to schools and rugby clubs in Ulster and at local Centra stores,  alternatively click here to download now. For further information email summercamps@ulsterrugby.com
