An evenly balanced first half saw Robert Smith give Ballyclare the lead with a try from a chip and chase, but Regent drew level through fullback Neil Aramstrong to leave it 5-5 at the break. Smith dropped a goal early in the second half for Ballyclare, but tries from Jeff Anderson and Paul Henderson, with an Armstrong converson took the Newtownards School through.
