| Entries were well up on the previous two seasons, with twenty teams taking part in the local sporting event. This has shown the growing enthusiasm and demand for Tag Rugby.
On the day, teams were drawn into four pools, with the winners of each Pool along with two others drawn from a hat, going forward to represent the Ards Borough at the Belfast Extravaganza on Thursday 13th March.
To add to the occasion, and much to the delight of the school children, Ulster players, Bryn Cunningham and Kieron Dawson dropped in on the games to chat to the teams, sign autographs and wish all involved good luck in the competitions. The local press came along to take some pictures and the Deputy Mayor of Ards, Councillor Jim Fletcher, also made an appearance to show his support for the teams competing. Winners of each of the 4 pools were awarded trophies that were kindly donated by 'Trophies By Design'.
Everyone involved had a great day out, and our thanks are extended to the schools who took part, as well as referees and Ards RFC for hosting the event.
The qualifiers for the Belfast Extravaganza are:- (A) Andrews Memorial, (B) L'derry, (C) Victoria (N'Ards) and (D) West Winds, along with St Mary's Kircubbin, and Killinchy.
