Williams Names Squad for Dragons Clash
13 February 2008, 3:10 pm
By Stacey Ferguson
New Ulster Coach Matt Williams has today named a 23 man squad from which he will announce his final line up at noon on Thursday.
With a break in the 6 Nations this weekend Matt Williams has welcomed back six Internationals to training at the Belfast base Newforge. Ulster’s latest signing Paddy Wallace who confirmed his new 2 year deal with Ulster today is included as well as Irish Internationals Neil Best, Rory Best and Tommy Bowe and Scottish International Simon Danielli and Italian lock Carlo Del Fava.

Paddy Wallace said of the game, “Obviously we had a better performance on our last outing against Gloucester and it was easily a match we could have won away from home and we have got to build on that. It is vitally important that we go out and play with the same desire that we played with that day, it is crucial that we win our home games from now on.”

“There is a new chapter starting for Ulster Rugby now under our new coach and whatever has happened before we can now draw a line in the sand and work from this point on. It is up to us to try to forget about the poor performances and move on and give something back to the supporters who have backed us throughout the bad times this year and hopefully from here on in there will be more good times."

Matt Williams said this of the game “The attitude of the players has been fantastic and very positive in training over the last week. It has been difficult with the international players coming into the squad late but the players have all responded to the pressure well.”

Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased from Ravenhill or from the Ulster Rugby ticket line on 028 9049 3222 (select option 2) or online at www.ulsterrugby.com anytime.
