| 9 teams from all over the Province competed in the tournament, which was co-ordinated and run by the Ulster Branch CRDO’s. This is the 2nd of the annual College events of the season following on from the College 7’s competition which took place on 21st November. These college events play a big part in the Community Rugby Programme where the development officers are introducing rugby to Institutes of Further and Higher Education, with a particular emphasis on those which are non tradition rugby playing Colleges.
The rugby displayed at the College 10’s was of a very high standard despite the fact that many of the players who took part were completely new to the game. Everyone involved, both players and spectators thoroughly enjoyed the day and thankfully the rain held off until the dying minutes of the last games.
Belfast Metropolitan College defeated a strong Northern Regional College (Causeway) side to take home the trophy. They can add this to their ever-increasing amount of rugby silverware as they also won the College 7’s competition recently at Ballyclare RFC.
A special thanks must go to Shaws Bridge for the use of their excellent facilities, and to all the teams who travelled and took part in the competition.
