| The event was attended by Lurgan Junior High and Banbridge High School with just under 70 boys competing in total which was very encouraging!
The kids were split into 6 teams with a mix from both schools and played a variation of rugby netball as a warm-up before splitting into forwards and backs. Both units were put through their paces by the coaches. The forwards looked at rucking and contact skills while the backs worked on their handling and lines of running.
After lunch some competitive fixtures were played. Lurgan fielded 3 teams and Banbridge 2 with both schools providing several players to form a combined team. Banbridge ‘A’ won pool 1 and Lurgan ‘A’ finished top of pool 2. The objective behind the day was to introduce the boys to some competitive fixtures against different opposition and a good day was had by all.
The Ulster Branch would like to thank both schools for a very healthy turn out of young players, Norps at Powerade for providing drinks and spot prizes and finally Banbridge rugby club for the use of their fine facilities.
