| The Ulster Rugby Mastercard was launched in conjunction with team partner the Bank of Ireland in February. Ulster Rugby receives an initial fixed payment for every card that is issued and after that, a percentage payment from the Bank of Ireland based on card turnover. All proceeds go towards helping to produce the next generation of Ulster and Ireland stars through the Ulster Rugby Academy, with a portion also dedicated to grass-roots rugby through clubs and schools.
On each application form the applicant has an opportunity to nominate a rugby club or school which will benefit by receiving a portion of the initial payment made to Ulster Rugby, and for a limited period during the month of September Ulster Rugby will double this payment to clubs or schools from £5 to £10.
As clubs and schools are getting back to business after the summer break it’s an ideal opportunity to raise funds while also supporting the Ulster Rugby Academy. The Bank of Ireland recently presented Ulster Rugby with a cheque for £25,000 raised from the credit card since it’s launch in February and with more to come as rugby fans and players across the province get behind the initiative it represents a large investment by the team’s main sponsor in rugby at all levels.
