Some members of the Ulster Academy who took part in the last team building exercise in July
The Ulster U20 XV are being put through their paces training at an army camp in Antrim this week. The squad, which includes 8 Ulster Academy players, arrived at the barracks on Tuesday morning.
Throughout the week the team will be partaking in teambuilding activities, intensive pitch sessions to improve skills and conditioning, as well as feedback on their performance through video analysis. The guys headed for Coleraine on Tuesday night to train Coleraine RFC and this Thursday 9th August the they will have a change of pace as they are set to take part in a charity cricket match at Muckamore Country Club. After four days of intense learning and training the camp will come to an end with the squad set to play a match against Instonians Under 21 side on Friday 10th August, after which the team will surely be looking forward to some R&R over the weekend!
The success of the Ulster Academy has been further proven this week as Academy players Mark McCrea and Sam McDonald were selected to train with the Ulster XV team for a short time in the absence of the 9 Ulster players currently in training with the Ireland squad in preparation for the Rugby World Cup.
