IRB U19 World Championship Final: New Zealand v South Africa
21 April 2007, 10:33 am
By Lyndsey Irwin
The action in this year's IRB U19 World Championship draws to a close today with the final round of action culminating in the Division A Final which will be contested by South Africa and New Zealand at Ravenhill, kick off 7.30pm...
Spectators have been treated to some great rugby over the past three weeks and today, SUPER SATURDAY will prove no exception. The final round of Division A matches will be played at Deramore (3.30pm), Shaws' Bridge (1.30pm and 3.30pm)  with a triple header at Ravenhill starting with Ireland v Scotland at 3pm.

At 5.30pm at Ravenhill, losing semi-finalists Wales and Australia will battle for 3rd place and at 7.30pm, all eyes will be on the World Championship final between New Zealand and South Africa will kick off.

It promises to be an extremely exciting match and the outcome could be too close to call at this stage as these two very good sides pit themselves against each other.

The two sides met in the 2005 final with South Africa taking the title with a 20-15 victory on home soil in Durban.
New Zealand have been the dominant side in the tournament so far. They have won all four matches and are leading point’s scorers with 214 points but South Africa have improved throughout the rounds and won their semi-final against Australia, last year's champions, relatively comfortably.

Italy captain Alberto Chiesa got his side off to the perfect start with a try after 10 minutes, Riccardo Bocchino adding the conversion to put Italy ahead 7-0. Nathan Hirayama pulled three points back for Canada with a penalty after 15 minutes, but Bocchino restored the seven-point lead with a penalty before half time. Francesco Fiorani and Luca Martinelli scored second-half tries for Italy to confirm first place in Division B.
