Shaws Bridge hosted the Belfast Area Tag Blitz yesterday which saw 14 Schools and 22 teams taking part.
Glorious sunshine provided the perfect setting at Shaw's Bridge for what proved to be an excellent afternoon of running rugby. The teams were split into 4 pools of 4 and 2 pools of 3 with each team playing 24 minutes of Tag Rugby.
The day started exactly how it finished with tries being scored left, right and centre. It really was a feast for all the teachers and parents that had come down to watch. The teams were also marked by the referees for their sportsmanship towards their oppostion with very high marks all round.
Thanks must go to Shaw's Bridge for the kind use of their facilities, all the teachers and players for turning up and of course the referees who seemed to enjoy it more than the kids!! The blitz was organised by Ulster Branch CRDO Brian O'Shaughnessy.
The 14 schools that took part were:
Fort Hill PS, Knockbreda PS, Killowen PS, Glenwood PS, Strand PS, Wallace Prep, Finaghy PS, Downshire PS, Cairnshill PS, Friends Prep, Our Lady Queen of Peace PS, Wheatfield PS, Harmony PS and Newtonbreda PS.
The 4 schools that go on to qualify for the Finals Day on the 23rd March are:
Cairnshill PS, Strand PS, Friends Prep and Finaghy PS.
Good luck to everyone!
