| Another good day for Ireland as the international curtain falls on the old Lansdowne Road Stadium, the comprehensive 61-17 victory over the Pacific Islands team bringing a very successful Autumn International period for Eddie O'Sullivan and his team to a close.
Ulster's Paddy Wallace, making his first full international start having won his first cap as a replacement against South Africa two weeks ago, was the man of the match for his performance at out-half, with a personal tally of 26 points from a 38 minute try, six conversions and three penalty kicks.
Paddy told the BBC, "It was a good day at the office for me," "I'm delighted - I've worked hard with my coach on my goal-kicking over the past four weeks and it's paid off today." "I'm coming into a winning team with a lot of confidence." "It was also great to be involved in the send-off to Lansdowne Road. It was very emotional out there at the end and I was privileged to be part of it."
It will also have been a memorable day for Ulster's Stephen Ferris, the 21 year old made his international debut at openside flanker, while Bryan Young won his 5th international cap in the front row.
Simon Best, Rory Best and Isaac Boss all saw some game-time from the bench, and Rory also got himself on the score-sheet when he barged over on the 75 minute mark after Boss, who found himself in the unusual position of winger rather than at scrum-half, broke through the cover defence and popped the pass to his Ulster and Ireland team-mate.
