Ben Cairns will start on the left wing for Edinburgh Gunners in their third round Magners League match against Ulster at Murrayfield tomorrow (Friday 15 September, kick-off 7.30pm).
The first year pro, who was in the starting XV for the pre-season friendlies against Leeds Tykes and Sale Sharks, replaces Simon Webster who was injured last week in the 20-14 victory over Leinster. Cairns came off the bench during that match to replace Webster. Canadian internationalist Mike Pyke takes his place in the substitutes. In the front row, prop Alasdair Dickinson comes in for Craig Smith while Dave Hewett starts on the bench.
Tomorrow's match will be interim coach Henry Edwards' last in charge, as Lynn Howells takes over the reins next week. The two coaches will continue working together until the end of the month to ensure a smooth handover. Speaking ahead of the game, Edwards said: "We're looking forward to building on last week's victory over other Irish opponents Leinster.
"We're well aware of the type of game Ulster try to play and as last season's champions, the threat they'll pose. As always, we'll be trying to raise the bar from last week. There were areas we needed to improve on and we've worked hard this week to address these issues.
"This is a good opportunity for us, given that Ulster have had the upper hand over the last few years, to get a second win and points in the bag."
