I hope you are all enjoying the summer and are beginning to look forward to the incoming season!
By now you should have all have heard of MERTS (Monday Evening Referee Training Sessions). These sessions are going very well and will continue throughout the summer.
The response has been good. Our ‘Senior Referees’ and the Society’s ‘Real Referees’ are showing tremendous commitment. To see the Society’s more experienced referee pit himself against the AIL referees, not to mention see guys who only began refereeing in January enjoying the craic USRFR brings, is excellent.
But there is always room for improvement. Where are all you ‘Whipper Snappers’? Let’s see you boys who want to become the next Senior Referees (You know who you are!) out showing the same dedication! These sessions provide those of you who are hoping to make the grade with an excellent opportunity both to learn from, and pit yourselves against the best the society has to offer, and your commitment will not go un-noticed.
But MERTS is not just for the elite. These sessions cater for all ages and level of fitness, so please don’t feel intimated. We are all working towards a common goal, to become better referees! If nothing else this is an ideal opportunity for you to meet fellow referees, have a laugh, and get the blood pumping again!
MERTS runs from 6.30pm -8.00pm every Monday evening at Shaws Bridge. If you can make it along please do, after all this is your society! If you have any questions contact myself or Pete Ferguson.
Yours In Rugby
