Foyle and Londerry College are winners of the Northern Bank Schools' Bowl defeating their North West rivals Limavady Grammar 22 - 19 in a close match at Ravenhill
Played in front of a sizeable crowd it was Limavady who opened the scoring with a well taken try from left winger Nicholas Heaney. Ulster Schools' U19 player Niall O'Connor was off target with the conversion .
Foyle came back strongly from this set back and after a prolonged period of pressure on the Limavady line, Limavady conceded a penalty which was kicked by Richard Brady, another of the U19 Schools players on view.
In the lead up to half time, David Funston the Ulster Schools' U18 centre went over for a well taken try which was converted by Richard Brady to increase the Foyle lead to 10-5 at half time.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Foyle increased their lead once more when winger William Mc Cleery stormed in for a score which went unconverted.
Limavady came back strongly and another of their representative players, hooker Robbie Robinson, reduced the arrears to just three points when he went over for an unconverted try.
From the restart, Foyle laid seige to the Limavady line and they were rewarded when No 8 and Ulster Schoools' U 19 player Chris Warnock charged over for a score which was converted by Richard Brady. This put Foyle 22-12 in the lead.
Limavady were now spurred into playing their best rugby and they got their reward when 2nd Row Aaron Wallace scored a try which was converted by O'Connor.
At 22-19, Limavady might have had the winning of the game but a combination of good Foyle defence and a number of dropped passes saw the Foyle team celebrate at the final whistle.
It was a relieved Foyle Captain Jack Caithness who picked up the Bowl from Ulster President Ian Graham after his teams fine win in a very good game of schoolboy rugby.
