8 February 2006, 5:00 pm
By Lyndsey Irwin
Inst proceed to the quarter-final stage of the Northern Bank Schools Cup defeating Royal School Armagh 22-3
In an exciting replay held in front of a sizeable and  enthusiastic crowd at Osborne Park on Wednesday, RBAI earned a place in the quarter final of the Northern Bank Schools' Cup with a 22-3 victory over RS Armagh.

In an evenly contested first half the home team took the lead with a try from their right winger after their backs had moved the ball quickly through the hands following good work from the pack. RS Armagh struck back with a well taken penalty following an infringement by the home team.
The early stages of the second half  saw both sides contest territory but it was Inst, under the excellent leadership of hooker Stephen Douglas, who withheld the pressure and extended their lead when Douglas touched down for a score to take a 10-3 lead.
Further Inst pressure saw full back Adam Craig  touch down for two tries, one of which he converted himself to give the home side a deserved 22-3 victory.

RBAI will now entertain BRA in the quarter finals whilst RS Armagh host Belfast HS in the Subsiduary Shield. These games are due to be played on Saturday 18th February.

Schools Bowl Update

In the Schools' Bowl quarter final replay Banbridge Academy made the long journey to Foyle and Londonderry College. This game proved to be almost as close as the first meeting between these two sides with the home team winning an exciting game 19-17. This was despite Banbridge Academy sitting in the opposition 22m area for the last ten minutes of the game and coming close to snatching victory on at least three occasions. Foyle will now travel to play Grosvenor GS in the semi final.

In the last of the quarter finals of the Bowl, Carrick GS travelled to play Limavady GS. In a high scoring game with both teams playing an exciting brand of rugby, it was the home team who ran out 36-19 winners. The experience of the Limavady team saw them through this tricky encounter as the visitors played well and caused the home team problems throughout the game.
