Despite trailing the visitors for all of the first half, and by as much as 10 points thanks mostly to a Daffyd James converted try on 35 minutes, a try for Ulster winger Andrew Maxwell from an Isaac Boss break well into injury time in the first period changed the game for the home side and saw them enter the break just three points behind their Welsh rivals.
In the second half Ulster turned on the pressure. Llanellin had no reply to the five unanswered penalties by an in-form and Bank of Ireland/Belfast Telegraph man of the match Paul Steinmetz and a late try for replacement Tyrone Howe with Ulster notching up a comprehensive win in this important Celtic League match.
