Northern Bank Schools' Cup Round 1 Group Stage Update
On Saturday 10th December, Wellington College entertained Strabane GS in the second match of the Round 1 games.
Having already played and beaten Antrim GS in thge first round of matches, Wellington were in a confident mood.
Despite this confidence, the first half was a tense affair with both sides making live difficult for themselves with a catalogue of errors. At half time only a penalty separated the teams when Wellinton kicked the three points after a Strabane infringement.
The second half was a much more lively affair with the Wellington midfield starting to dominate. Two well taken tries with one conversion and a penalty gave the home team an unassailable 18-0 lead well into the second half and despite a spirited fight back from Strabane they were unable to cross the home team line.
Wellington ran out deserved 18-0 winners and now go into the hat for the second round draw which will take place soon.
Antrim GS will travel to Strabane to establish which team finishes as runner up in this group. This game is due to take place on Saturday 17th December.
