2nd xv Plate Final
Sullivan Upper and Belfast Royal Academy contested an entertaining match at
R.B.A.I grounds at Osborne on Thursday morning. The BRA forwards dominated
possession, giving a steady supply of good ball to their backs, constantly
testing the Sullivan defence, which was more than adequate. The Sullivan
backs did look dangerous, but simply did not have enouigh possession.
BRA scored a try, after a well worked back movement, through centre Ryan
Cartmill. The conversion was missed as was an earlier penalty by No. 10
William Martin. However early in the second half Martin kicked a good
penalty to increase the BRA lead to 8 - 0. BRA continued to dominate and
were rewarded with a try from flanker and Ryan Ewing. BRA should have had
at least 3 more tries but just failed in the final few metres. Sullivan put
some good attacks together in the final few minutes but bthe BRA defence
remained resolute.
Final score 13 - 0
