Ballymena Academy took an early 6-0 lead against Methody with a Calum Patterson penalty closely followed by a Calum Patterson drop goal. Methody responded at the end of the first half with a Patrick Jackson try and conversion to take a 7-6 half time lead.
The second half saw Methody extend their lead to 10-6 when Patrick Jackson converted a penalty opportunity.
Once again, just as they had done in two Northern Bank Ulster Schools' Cup quarter-final games against a very talented Friends' School team, Ballymena Academy played their "get out of jail card" in injury time when John Andrew claimed the touch down for a try which won them the game. Calum Patterson missed the conversion but it did not matter as the referee blew his whistle to see the Ballymena team safely through to the St Patrick's Day decider against Belfast Royal Academy.
