Scotland A had an early try ruled out for a forward pass in the build up, and the Scots were to be frustrated further by the Ireland Wolfhounds when good work in midfield from lock Devin Toner, Gavin Duffy and Cave set up a fine counter attacking try for Leinster centre Fergus McFadden.
Ian Humphreys was to have a good night with the boot, successful with both conversions and a penalty in the first half giving a 17 – 0 halftime lead to the Ireland Wolfhounds.
The second half was to start badly though, with Toner getting sin binned in the third minute of the second half and the Scots were to take advantage with an unconverted try for James Eddie. The Wolfhounds broke straight back, with Duffy making a great break from his half to set McFadden up for his second try of the night.
Robertson hit back with another try for Scotland A, with Ruaridh Jackson converting to keep the score line 24 – 12 in favour of Ireland Wolfhounds. The Irish side were not sitting back though, with more fine work resulting in a try for replacement scrum half Isaac Boss.
Scotland A marched back up the field, with intense pressure on the Ireland Wolfhounds scrum resulted in a penalty try for the Scotland A side. After the score, prop Marcus Horan was to be sin binned for persistent infringing in the scrum leaving the Irish side again down to 14 men. However the Wolfhounds were not finished with Murphy the benefactor of more excellent build up by the side, scoring the fifth try in injury time of the game.
Captain Chris Henry, centre Darren Cave and Ryan Caldwell all put in impressive individual performances in the win, with a real determination throughout the side to bounce back from the defeat last week.
