The Cup will be played over two legs so that every school is given the maximum participation on the day and this way, the stronger and developing schools have the chance to aim for the Cup competition.
The first leg has set a good standard, which hopefully will be carried over to the second leg on 23rd of March.
Magh Ene will be keen to keep their heads and composure to retain the U15 Donegal Schools’ Cup which they won last year. Rosses CS will surely give them a run for their money. Glenties showed great skill and composure throughout the competition to finish on a high and Loreto Milford should not be without mention for their fine performance with the least amount of players in the first leg.
A big acknowledgement must go to the second Magh Ene team which was mostly made up of beginners to the sport. The girls fought hard, showing great spirit- it was evident that they too have caught the rugby bug!
All of these schools have been involved in weekly training sessions with DCRP YDOs Adam Keys, Philip Brady and Jonathan Quigley.
The IRFU Ulster Branch would like to thank the Donegal Schools’ Rugby committee for helping to organise the blitzes and Letterkenny RFC for the use of their facilities at Dave Gallagher Park. Also thanks to teachers, Carmel Egan, John Reilly, Tonia Kiely, Dearbhla Fox and referees, Jamie Boyle, Jarryd Bennett and Chris Blockley and Adam Keys.
