The first game in Pool A was Ballymoney v Sperrin. After a close first half the Ballymoney side held a 5-0 lead. However in the second half some great passing rugby from the Ballymoney side lead to a further four tries. Three of these tries were converted to leave the final score 31-0 to Ballymoney.
The second game saw Ballymoney take on the side from Limavady High School. The game started at a fast pace with both sides looking to run with the ball. Limavady scored the first try of the game which was converted by their kicker. As the game wore the Ballymoney side looked tired after playing their second game in a row. This allowed the Limavady side to run in a further three tries t0o leave the final score at 24-0 to Limavady.
The final game of Pool A saw Limavady taking on Sperrin. Limavady went into the game knowing a win would take them through to the finals. The Limavady High School side started brightly and looked determined , their left winger scored a great try early on, which was closely followed by another try, both were converted to make the score 14-0. In the second half a great backline passing move saw a Sperrin winger go over in the corner. Limavady then scored a further two tries to make the score 28-5 and sent Limavady High School through to the finals.
The first game in Pool B saw Slemish Integrated College take on Lisneal College. Slemish took an early lead when their centre showed a quick turn of pace to score their first try, but unfortunately were unable to convert. Before the end of the first half Lisneal managed to level the score with a try of their own. The second half saw Slemish take control of the game as they scored a further two tries to make the final score 15-5 to Slemish.
The second match saw Lisneal take on newcomers Dunluce. Lisneal showed the more experience of the two by not wasting anytime in bringing home the first try. Although the Dunluce side showed good positioning and tackling they were unable to hold back the strong Lisneal side. Lisneal was the more dominant of the two sides with the final score 41-0 to Lisneal.
The final match of the pool was between Slemish and Dunluce. Slemish knew if they were able to gain a win over Dunluce in this final match they would qualify for the finals, but this did not mean the Dunluce side were going to give up without a fight. Slemish took an early lead and things just got better. Dunluce fought hard but were unable to cross the line, giving Slemish that all important win putting them through to the finals. Final score 27-0 to Slemish.
