Jonny, who is the Elite Player Development Officer at the Academy, and Chris, who is Strength and Conditioning coach, will be present on the day to pass on their expertise to the players and coaches involved in the trials.
This is a great opportunity for the players in Donegal to be exposed to the next level of the IRFU Player Development Pathway and further their rugby career.
Since 2003, 15 players have been capped for Ulster at Under 18, Under 19 or Women's level, with Donal Byrne (Donegal Town RFC) going on to represent Ireland at U18 level. With the continued support of Ulster Rugby it will surely be a matter of time before a Donegal- based player makes the next step up the ladder towards the Ulster Rugby Academy.
The trial, which will take place at Letterkenny RFC on Monday 4th January (1.30am-2.30pm) is open to all club and school players to attend. Details of age groups are as follows:
Boys U18 – Born 1992/93
Girls U19 – Born 1991/92/93
All players must register by sending an email to info@donegalcommunityrugby.com (players who attended the trial on the 13th December are already registered).
